8:30-8:9:00   Literacy Instruction

  • Phonemic Awareness
    • recognize rhyme structure
    • segment words into syllables and sounds
    • blend word parts together to make words
    • review of phonograms and sight words
  • Read Aloud / discussion and comprehension questions
    • language skills
    • story recall
    • concepts of print
    • listening skills/make predictions

  • Differentiated Basket Centers (5 baskets based on skills learned throughout the week that rotate)
  • Teacher (Reading Street Small Group Instruction)
  • Listening/Writing  (following directions with phonemic awareness & journal topic of the day)
  • Computer (phonetic reading/comprehension)
